Hi there!

My real name is a mystery, but you can call me Max. I've been a performer for over the half of my life. It started when I was 12 years old... a professional magician taught me in 10 months what he took 10 years to learn (if he didn't tell me himself, I wouldn't believe it). That was a lot to learn but as he said, I was a "quick learner". Then we went separate ways.

Two years later we met again, but this time I was the one teaching him. I don't think this happened because I was a prodigy, but because I focused on learning while he focused on performing. Also, our approach to the art was different. Today I work at the Armed Forces here in Brazil, but I'm also a part time performer. I refer to myself as a mentalist... with a little "magic touch". As the years passed, I was slowly changing the "hand skill" for the "mind skill".

My big passion right now is Mentalism, Cards, Puzzles and Propless Effects.
Some effects I love: Magic Square, Rubik Remembered, Card Calling, Drawing Duplication, Gambling Demonstration.

I try to engage, give fun and get the reaction of "I surrender" as in this video (the kicker from my OOTW):

It's a pleasure to be here. I hope we can exchange experiences and ideas.
Btw, I'm sorry for the bad english... it isn't my birth language. XP

Cheers!

Thx for the warm welcome Mary. You must be one of the nicest members around. I'm sure there are a lot of performers sharing the same passions here.

It's my pleasure. Cheers!

Welcome to the Café Max! (=

Wow it is awesome that, at such a young as you found a mentor, AND that you guys ended up meeting years later and you returned the favour to him. I've recently really been pulled toward mentalism also, been watching some of Derren Brown's performances and he is absolutely amazing! I love watching how they perform and act. The way subtle things influences people subconsciously is amazing. Seems like you are having good fun while kicking back some beers=P, good stuff! Oh and English is your second language, I would not have guessed that from your post.

ThSecret, thx for the welcome! I guess there's a bit of "fate" in my history. Derren is one of my absolutely favorites in mentalism and my model of what a mentalist should look/say/be/do. I also prefer the psychological approach rather than the psychic approach, but sometimes I do things with a bigger aura of mystery. About my english, I'm sure you will see me wrong from time to time... XP

Cheers!

Seja bem vindo, Max!

It's good to see more Brazilians around here! We're not that many here in the Café. Or at least I'm not aware of a lot of other Brazilians active here. I'll send you a private message later this week, but enjoy your time here at the Café. There is a lot of good information here!

Best,

Paulo

Valeu Paulo! XD

Thank you for the warm welcome buddy. There are tons of very clever guys here in Brazil, they just hide well. I'm about to get a bit out of the darkness myself, but just a little bit... I don't like the sun. lol

I'll wait your message, and the Café already surpassed my expectations of how helpful people can be here.

Cheers,

Max Hazy

Hello Max. It's good to see you here. I enjoy similar effects: cards, mentalism, prop-free, magic of the mind, I love puzzles... I hope to see you around and learn from you. I'm new to magic, though I've played with it on and off for over 20 years. I still consider myself a beginner. This year I have begun keeping a journal and holding myself accountable to practice every day. If I haven't written it down for the day then I can't go to bed until it is done and written. I'm still trying to find my niche, so I thank you for the trick list. Since I share similar interests, I am excited to see what your favorites are. I look forward to learning from more of your posts. Take care. And I admire you for serving your country.

Wow Percy, 20 years back and forth? That's a lot of time to still a beginner (but off course that's relative). In the beginning I'd train 8 to 12 hours a day (I remember the 12 hours training really well... it was insane). The time of training became less and less over time as the more skilled you get, the less you have to practice similar stuff. That training (that my mentor didn't ask for) was done just because I was a headstrong, and it felt somewhat like "the karate kid" training... I had no idea why I was training like that at the time, but that training surely was worthy as a foundation for skills that I still use today.

My favorites? Murder Mystery, Which Hand, Psychometric Test (those 3 alone is open to a lot of presentations) and a lot of stuff with cards/divination/influence.

I'm sure we'll be able to learn a lot from each other and I look forward for that.

Thanks for the warm welcome buddy.

Cheers,

Max Hazy

Hey Max,
Where in Brazil are you from? I am currently living in Northern Argentina, so if you are in the south it might work out to meet up and swap notes.

I live in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. It's not too far, but it's not south either, it's closer to Paraguai.
I'm thinking about going to Paraguay again this year. PM me if you see the possibility of a meeting.

Cheers,

Max Hazy
