Easy to make with a silk tacked to a frame, a fine point Sharpie pen to draw open letters, and silk paint dyes from Dharma Trading Company if you want to add color. You can also color it with permanent magic markers, but that looks a little messy. However, if you are in a hurry and happen to have a spare white silk and a set of color markers, you could have it done before New Year's Eve.

Shortly after I posted the above, I got an invitation to attend a New Year's Eve Party and a request to perform some magic at said event (with an honorarium attached!). So I decided to take my own advice and made a Happy New Year silk as described above, and then got inspired to take another white silk and make a duplicate, but with the message "NAPPY YEW HEAR!" on it. I'll produce the "Nappy" silk first, then perform a color changing silk routine to transform it into the "Happy" silk.
In the Boxes, Tubes and Bags section, I've described a calendar effect I will also be performing at the party. Happy New Year, everyone!
