I bought this awhile ago (back in 2017) and the ink smudged the same day :-(. Was very disappointed and haven't used it since.

Have to go against the majority here. I once had this gimmick and didn't like it.

I have two of these gimmicks. One of them has been used a fair bit (but not particularly much), and the other has not been used at all yet.
Comparing them side by side, I see that there are some slight ink smudges on the gimmick that has been used. The smudging is certainly not bad enough yet to warrant abandoning the gimmick, but obviously this could become a bigger issue in the future if it continues to smudge. I suppose that the smudging is caused by dragging the gimmick across a surface (e.g. a table) too much or being too aggressive when activating it. It is natural to drag the gimmick to the edge of the table in order to grip underneath and flip it over, which I suspect could cause the smudging. I did do that a lot, particularly when first receiving and practising with it. I will try to be more careful about that in future and hopefully avoid too much further smudging. As for the effect itself, I think it can be very good when used correctly. I think it's best used as a prelude to further mentalism effects. |

I wouldn't be surprised if the DB version was done by means of post hypnotic suggestion and amnesia. All DB had to do was to hypnotize Stephen Merchant off camera and anchor a 'yes' 'no' response to a secret visual/postural signal given by DB. That way, DB could control Merchant's yes or no responses while merchant himself thinks its a free choice.
You will be surprised what you can get away with, with a bit of pre-show and TV editing. As for the decisions effect, I still love it! |
