Hi Simon!
Reading an article in Visions (the online journal of the art of magic) came to my mind the situation when you are in a party, club, restaurant, etc (in your leisure time, not working) and someone knows you and ask you to "do a trick". What do you do in that situation? I mean, as a professional, there are times when you just want to relax and forget what you know. How do you deal with this situation? Do you accept and "do a trick" or do you politely say "I'm sorry, but we are closed" Thanks! Alejandro. |

I have my standard line that I stole right from one of the Michael Close videos. #6 I think. Seems like it would work here too.
"... perhaps another time". I use this while strolling if a couple doesn't want to see magic. It's very polite, professional, and I don't have to think of something right on the spot. For some groups or if you know the requestor "I'm sorry, but we are closed" is funnier and better. Hey. Wait. I'm not Simon. Simon?

It really depends on my mood. In my local bar if somebody asks then I'll do something - just one thing!
Most times however if people ask me what I do for a living I tell them I am a gyneocologist - it's most unlikely that they'll fling their wife on the pool table and ask me to do my job! So I get to relax |
