Thanks for having me. M. Postscript: 4 of Diamonds, you were thinking of the 4 of Diamonds. No? Wrong, it's the 4 of Diamonds. |

Thanks Mary,
Once upon a time I focused mainly on card magic then approximately a year and a half ago I fell in love with coin magic and devoted the majority of my learning in that department ever since, only picking up a deck to get some work in on my second deal. I do close-up, no stage routines and I'm still working on finding a persona. That's something I never really cared to develop until the last few years. Right now I am working on sort of a character that is overly confident (yet not arrogantly so) then displays seemingly mediocre skills to achieve spectacular (and unexpected) effects. I want to come across as being unknowingly self-deprecating, if that makes sense. Going to the edge of failure and pulling it back at the last moment. In fact, I would even go as far as purposely (unbeknownst to the spectators, of course) messing up on a card/coin effect to make them expect failure on the following one as well and making it look like it's heading that way for all intense and purposes (think 'Bert Allerton's 2 card trick') and then pulling off something amazing at the end. Again, I've just started experimenting with that whole concept and I want to give it careful consideration. The main thing is that no matter where my character development goes I just don't want to come across as trite. |
