You are putting out a new DVD with him that is in pre-order right now and most of his books have inclued ideas of yours which you do have a vested interested in, don't you? I will answer that question jfor you, yes you do. You really tipped your hand when you admitted that you came to defend one of your mates rather than let people who legitimately purchased the products have their due say. How about instead of just running to your buddies defense, you let the purchases have their say and let the product stand on its own feet in the market place rather than trying to prop up a subpar product? This would be fair to the people who might potentially spend their hard earned money. I have consistently purchased nearly all of Fraser's work (True Mysteries, True Mysteries II, Memoria, False Messiah, Second Coming, Ploy, Rose, seeing stars, and many more). Hell I have even purchased some of the products that he has released for other people (Jhana immediately comes to mind). I generally like his work, although I will be honest and say that most of my mentalism mates are not a fan of his methods. I have had several intense discussions with people telling me that Rose (for example) doesn't work at all. It does work for me but I do see the weaknesses that they have pointed out in his products (particularly ploy). This deck is probably the one product that I was considering but after seeing the back design immediately knew that it was not going to be worth the money. The back design is not just corney, it causes your eyes to bleed because of how horrible it looks. If you want a serious marked deck, there are plenty of choices that surpass this one: Madison Players, Brooklyn 101 Deck, DMC Elites, of course Luke Jermay's Marksman Deck, etc. All of these are great choices, and will do the job. I'm not deliberately trying to pick on Fraser or Ross but for either of them to think that this deck is worth first the price of the purchase or that it could even hang with these other elite decks is, pardon my honesty but hilarious. Let this be a message to all future creators of marked decks, don't even think of putting one out unless you know for sure that it can hang with other marked decks already sold on the market, otherwise you might be wasting your investment money. Sincerely, Yours |

Can you see the markings? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ no I cant , and as I find the backdesign of these cards not to my taste, I would never use them anyways, even if I were able to read them. I am so glad to have the Phoenix marked decks, the Marksman decks and the DMC decks at my disposal also, of which I find the DMC to have the most diabolical and best readable system of them all. The Marksman decks are very easy to read too, and offer tons of imgenious possibilities, I wouldnt give them out of the hands for long though, whereas I think a spectator would be none the wiser gazing at a DMC deck. |

Hi Leo,
These cards are unreadable without instructions. I'm sure if you email Fraser directly, he'll send them to you, it was probably a mistake. Hi Wchoo02, The JOO has significantly larger marks, but I think that the JOO deck has disadvantages when compared to other marked decks. For the JOO to be effective, you have to look at the entire card back in a special way, and depending on your effect, it isn't always accessible. I consider full back markings to be a hindrance for magicians, but again, every use case is different. There are a lot of good marked decks on the market, but right now, I would consider the two best to be the DMC Elite Rouges, and the GT Speedreaders. These two decks have the advantage of being able to be read under near any condition, can be clearly read from a spread and under a plethora of handling situations. Also, the GT Speedreaders can be purchased with a DVD that contains a ton of methods, and live footage, on how to use them. Hope that helps. |

MarchHare,
I'm afraid you're incorrect, I've released around six or seven products, three of which have been in collaboration with Fraser; although I have given him contributions to a few things, from which I did not profit. So why I'd have any particular interest in their sales I'm unsure. You're correct about the DVD however, although I'm not sure what marketing purpose you believe my engaging in public disagreements serves? I'm clearly not stopping anyone from having their say, you are after all able to read their comments. Disagreement is not equivalent to silencing. There's nothing particularly fair in only having one side of a discussion be represented, I'm not sure what harm you think my comments are causing? I'm glad you have an open mind with regards these kinds of methods, and I'm sure Fraser would acknowledge some of the potential failings of that approach. We simply attempt to provide for people with an interest in our style, and have no particular interest in evangelising for it or attempting to convert people. We only request that the discussion is nuanced and constructive. Haha, I'm not huge on the design either, although I probably wouldn't go that far. Yes there are plenty of other great marked decks on the market which offer features not offered by the Joo deck. The Joo deck offers certain features and advantages not possessed by those. Whether the trade offs are worth it for the individual depends on the style of material they perform. I think blurry's most recent post contains good thoughts on this. It's probably time I bow out. I acknowledged the limitations of my contribution in my first post, and I've said my piece with regards the criticisms I view as illegitimate. Many of the criticisms are however fair and I have no issue with them being voiced. It is the complaint that the marks are unreadable with which I take issue, all else is fair game. Best wishes, Ross |

Funny - the person defending the deck is a buddy of the creator whereas the people unhappy with the deck are purchasers. Speaks volumes.
I'll pass and stick to Elite Rouge. |
