I haven't had much luck with it for some reason (the second phase), but perhaps it's the dice I'm using. I love the idea though. Maybe I'll get some of the bigger casino style dice and see how it goes.

^This helps a lot. I use casino dice and a dice cup. This allows me to cover a die and utilize the “number three” force found in Pure Effect for an extra phase. I had been doing this for years with a higher priced die 😉

I have just bought Rhine’s Dice, this is fantastic, I love the devious and straight forward effects.

This is also the first Matt Mello product I have bought, I thought his presentation and explanation on the video was very clear and well presented.

I will be buying more of his products in the future.

Great Stuff

Another one for the bottom drawer. I had to cringe in disbelief when I saw how you @reveal@ the spectators dice after they rest their hand on it. I thought oh no what a total waste of my money, the other effect adding the 3 dice can be found in almost any kids trick book. Stay away!

I think you should go out and actually perform this as it really fools laypeople - I promise

I am showing the tower dice tomorrow at work (i could do with a different peek)! The reason I didn't like it was the other effects and working out which number was chosen.

I'm also not having any luck with phase 2. Could someone kindly recommend a specific die that will work, and where I can buy them? I've tried 5-6 different types of dice that I have and none seem to work.

I've given it another try with casino dice instead of the drugstore type and it does seem to work well.

I bought these ones:

Odd, I’ve had great success with every type of dice.

I think it comes down to two things.

1) How long they do the thing

And more importantly,

2) You using the proper technique to learn the number.

Be sure you’re using the method Matt teaches. You can’t just do it the normal way. There’s a particular way to find it and there’s also a particular sensation you need to look for.

I can’t say any more because I’m trying to be be cryptic but point #2 is the most important aspect of it.

I am only using the one routine but have created my own effect which I think is better than the one on the video.
I get the spectator to add all the dice up themselves as it takes them a lot longer. I say use a calculator and I get a second spectator to confirm the total sum.
The "test" on the explanation video doesn't (for me) have any impact. He doesn't explain why he's written a number down so the two girls are really not convinced he did anything.
My routine after the peek, turn away and help the spectator explaining how to add the dice up to a total sum. I showed this to some intelligent people today and you wouldn't believe the mess they got into hence having two people add the numbers up.

By now I know the total before they have even got started. I then say ok this is a simple psychic test, I then ask one of the spectators to think of the first number of the total. Tell them what it is and then give the other spectator then second number. The best part is when its 44 you can mess with their heads with this one!
This turns the routine from a "quick" solve by the performer into a real psychic reveal.
I am looking into getting 5 large dice and making this a big effect!
Good luck guys.

I created a real beauty with the main principle in Rhine's Dice in combination with some other ideas I had.

I use only two dice. Spec rolls both while I am turned away. They cover one with a cup so that I can't see it, and the other with their hand.
With zero questions at all, I am able to reveal the numbers on each die. And no, I don't ever need to touch the cup, nor have it lifted. Zero gimmicks are used. One die is simply handed to me behind my back and I am instantly able to reveal both numbers. I was on a dice kick for a while and crafted about 7 or 8 dice effects which all revolve around the idea of revealing hidden numbers that have been rolled on them. Smile

Sorry to get mildly off topic from what the main thread is about, but I thought it was worth mentioning that the main principle used in Rhine's Dice can be taken much further.

Yes, and I can ask a spectator to merely think of a number on a dice and reveal it to them instantly...

I brought this out of my back drawer recently, and ... trying not to give away the secret, I have trouble with this one. It is hit n miss. Maybe my hands lack what is needed to do this trick, but I even have a hard time with this when I try to do it to myself. I know that my hands have what it takes to do the first part of it, but apparently not the second part. I am following the instructions to the letter, even going a bit further, and those of you who have this will know what I'm talking about. Maybe someone can PM me with some thoughts and suggestions.

I did place an order for some suggested dice from a post above, so I'll give that a try, but I don't really see how that is going to change much.
