Looking for a very inexpensive solution to sound during street magic performances for the purpose of promo videos. I have minimal experience in the sound realm, so pardon my lack of knowledge and seemingly ignorant questions. I would want something to use with a small HD video camera, or, even more preferably, with my iphone. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Cheap equipment sounds cheap. Better to invest in high quality gear than to sound cheesy.

If IPhone get a Camera Mount, Rode shotgun video mic. Should set you back about $250 Or a Sennheiser G2 camera unit, used with sennheiser lavalier, if your lucky around $250.
Control your Show Music from a PC from 800 ft away with a remote control. Send me a message to find out how......

Good notes. As always, get the best equipment you can afford, especially for video. Most people focus on the visuals but the sound is lacking in many cases. It is equally important so get a decent RF system and go to town!

This past year, I performed in a large church's banquet hall. They had 7 of these (they look similar to the Countryman E6). I use a Countryman in my stage show, so I was intrigued by this brand I'd never used. The church uses them for plays, and singers. The professional sound tech swore by them. I used it, and asked him more questions. Turns out, they're only $20 on Amazon, and free shipping if you have Prime.
I ordered two, just to have backups for my lavaliere and Countryman mics. I have not used one in performance yet, but I did check them during sound check. The audible difference between the Countryman and the Pyle may be noticed by people in our business, when they're checked side by side - there was a tiny amount of difference in the high end, which was helped by a tweak in that pot, but I believe a layman would never know the difference. I don't know how they'd hold up under consistent usage, but at $20, I'm not afraid to find out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003D2......F8&psc=1 This is not intended as a replacement for the quality of higher-priced mics, but can be part of the solution for "very inexpensive". |
