A few years ago, you might recall me posting in the Café here a system I was in the process of developing that would allow restaurant magicians to PROVE to the management exactly how much revenue they were bringing into the restaurant on the nights they performed! Well...I'm happy to announce that I have finally put this course together and it's ready...kind of... Congratualtions Michael! This should be a valuable tool for restaurant workers by the sound of it.
I would however like to ask you a few questions. I have never condoned that a entertainer approach any venue (restuarant, nightclub, comedy club, etc.) under the premise or with the promise of "I can increase your business" or "I can make you money/bring in profits, etc." or "I can bring in/you new customers." These are bold claims. I have always felt there are other and better ways (premises) to approach these venues (as a basis for a long-term account or relationship), simply because most performers can not deliver these results, let alone with any consistency. So are you condoning the premise of approaching restaurants on the basis that they can increase sales and profits with your system? Or is this just more of a tool/resource to know numbers for yourself while offering some technical support data to the client in addition to your services. Does/Can the performer charge the client/venue for such data or services? |

The system has never been about promising anything to the management. It has and always will remain a system to only track the revenue the magician is bringing into the business. I am totally against ANYONE who claims they can increase sales....without being able to back it up. And even then, they usually have no "measuring stick" to show the management that they have increased business. I agree it IS a bold statement for anyone to try and do that. I know in the past, here in the forums, some have claimed they have increased business but when push comes to shove and the management needs to see that data to justify the costs of having you there....sadly, they cannot show it. THAT is the reason I put this together. I too have been in the hot seat and brought back into the office only to be told "We gotta let you go" because management didn't believe the magic was adding to their bottom line. But to be able to print out monthly reports and seeing the numbers has proved invaluable to me. Especially in those times when your employment comes into question. As magicians, we are expendable and usually the first to go when money is tight. The goal of establishing a residency is to be an ASSET to the business and not a liability. |

I don't perform at restaurants but am curious if your system could be used at other venues . . . say festivals or other events?
