I'd like to get opinions on which would be the better value for someone who is not very adept at sleight-of-hand..."The Art of Switching Decks," by Roberto Giobbi ($55.00) or MIQaBox: Devious Deck Switch by Tom Phoenix ($20.00).

Welcome to the Café, Larry
It might help if you can say more about what kind of conditions you'd want to use it because the question is not that simple...depends on what you are looking for. Do you want something usable right now for a specific use or are you looking for general knowledge of switches? It sounds like you want something more specific. If you want a simple switch, that does not require too much skill, you can certainly get that in Giobbi's book. But you will also be buying more options than you will ever need. If $55 is reasonable to you for something useful plus a bunch more that probably isn't then you are good. Devious Deck Switch is one of several options on the market, like Gregory Wilson's Cold Case. Those two have angle issues that have to be managed. Devious is cardboard, Greg's is a metal gaff, etc. Both take a bit of a learning curve because they do some of the heavy lifting for you, but not all. PM me and I'll tell you about a couple of simple approaches that may fill the bill and cost you nothing. |
