This may have been asked or answered before

I've recently got a set of Sherwood brass cups

One of them rings like a bell when tapped with a wand. It really took me by surprise first time I found this. Really beautiful. Real quality.

The other two don't.

My question is have I been lucky once or unlucky twice?

Unless you are concerned with the musical quality of your Sherwood set, I wouldn't think twice about this peculiarity. The value in your set lies in their design and ability to get the job done well in your routine.

In that matter of functionality, the Sherwood cups have succeeded.

The one that rings is the magical one....the other two are just regular cups.

They should all ring the same. There are several reasons why they would or would not ring.

Clearly this is meant to inform the performer as to which cup possesses qualities needed in order to pass another cup right through it.
