I did a 45 minute show this past weekend of mostly card tricks. It was a great audience mostly consisting of friends made it feel like the show was done in 10 minutes. I think one of the better routines was performing a multiple selection; see YouTube link below. After performing this, it is easy to see why great magicians perform this for larger crowds (e.g. Doc Eason, Aldo Columbini, Ricky Jay). I learned this one from the Andi Gladwin Penguin Live lecture in a trick he called Natural Selection. His involved a triumph finale that I wasn't able to incorporate here but still a great idea. I know Andi also has a DVD that covers the subject of multiple selection from A to Z which I have yet to purchase (probably should soon) but I definitely got my moneys worth from the lecture download.

Nicely done, John! I enjoyed your stage presence and the crowd seemed to as well. I recently reintroduced the multiple selection in my act after having shelfed it in favor of other card routines. It's been getting a strong audience response and I may need to make it a staple in my repertoire again. I use Aldo's Fireworks control for my routine, but have also played around with using a combination of multiple shift and breather crimp to get the cards in the necessary position. Out of curiosity, what control do you typically use?

Gentlemen, thanks for the nice words.
For this routine, I used Aldo's Firework control with a short card at the bottom to help. This was my first time using this control and it is a simple enough card move that I was able to focus my attention on trying to remember the order of the people who selected cards (which I could barely accomplish). I prefer this control over the one I learned in Doc Eason taught in his DVDs but that is just a personal preference. Multiple selection probably belongs in every performer's repertoire - how can you go wrong involving all the spectators? Thanks to Andi Gladwin for reminding me of this.

Nicely done. Multiple Selection is one of those routines that at some point I will work on it. I've seen a lot of versions and took notes about them, my favorite it's probably Joshua Jay. Steve Valentine have a nice touch in terms of method. Check it out if you like the plot.
Thanks for sharing Helder
