Packet Killer (Magic Makers)
Comes with the excellent Blue Gaff Deck and a great instructional video! Overview Packet tricks are very popular in the world of card magic, because they only require the use of a selection of cards rather than an entire deck. One of the best places to start is with Packet Killer, which comes with both a deck of assorted gaffs, plus teaching videos. Here's the official video trailer: The appeal of Packet Killer is that you get a deck containing an assorted collection of various gaffed cards, that enables you to perform a wide range of packet effects. Better yet, it even comes with a terrific instructional DVD video! There's many classic and powerful effects in the world of packet tricks, so getting a deck of assorted gaffs along with an instructional DVD is an excellent way to get started. "Packet Killer" by Magic Makers is arguably the best you'll find in this category. Contents Packet Killer comes with: 1. a full deck of assorted gaffed cards for a variety of packet effects 2. an instructional DVD which teaches over 40 different effects This is great collection of essential gaffed cards. While some of the effects taught are just variations from each other, there's absolutely a ton of great material here. Gaffs for many classic packet tricks are included, and the video teaches classics like Wild Card, Million Dollar Monte (i.e. Ultimate 3 Card Monte), MacDonald's Aces, Parade of the Kings (a predecessor of B'Wave), Princess Card Trick, a Twisted Sister variation (Simon's Transpo), Card to Wallet, and more. Various routines are taught for double-backed cards and double-faced cards, and there's also some very unique gaffed cards. Simon not only teaches the effects themselves, but also the necessary sleights to perform them, so there are sections dealing with teaching for card sleights like the Glide, Elmsley Count, and many others. To get an idea of the killer material what's included, see Simon's performance of "Transpo Kings" in the video below, which is taken from the DVD: The Very Good: The Deck The deck that comes with this product is called The Blue Gaff Deck, and was first published by Magic Makers as a separate product without instructions, and was initially intended as a utility kit of gaffed cards for magicians. It features a pretty good mix of gimmicked cards, with all the DBs, DFs, and false indices needed to perform a wide range of the most popular packet effects like Wild Card, MacDonald's Aces, Twisted Sisters, Ultimate 3 Card Monte, Princess Card Trick, and more. There's also some miscellaneous gaffs (e.g. partial red back on blue back, multiple cards printed on a single card, half 7 clubs & five hearts on face) which you can use to do some fun routines. The Excellent: The Video The video that comes with this deck is outstanding. It features Simon Lovell, and has over 2 hours of material. Simon walks you through the explanation of all the different tricks, including all the classic routines for the effects mentioned above. He's a wonderful and humorous teacher, and this DVD alone makes this product an excellent buy. Some tricks are fairly straight forward, but most are suitable for intermediate magicians who already have mastered basics sleights like controlling a card and the double lift, although Simon does also teach some of the required sleights. It's an excellent "next step" for beginners. Recommendation If you're interested in doing packet tricks, and are looking for a single product that has a variety of gaffs suitable for a range of tricks, this is probably the best you will find right now, given that it comes with a terrific instructional DVD. For packet tricks and gaffed cards, it's hard to think of a product on the market which offers better value. Highly recommended! Want to learn more? Good review! This looks great. Is the one on Amazon legit/authentic? It seems to be half the price of other stores

I think it is legit. I bought mine on eBay over a year ago for $32. I am seeing some on eBay right now for inflated prices, but there are also some listed there for $27.
So $22 on Amazon here is a slightly better deal, and I can't see why it wouldn't be the real thing. Rock Ridge Sales sells it on Amazon for $25, and they're a reputable seller. |

I bought 2 of these off Amazon accidentally from 2 different vendors because they were packaged slightly differently. I am not disappointed. I happened to get one Red and One blue. One came with a few additional non standard cards for doing tricks like Color Monte, the first packet I ever bought and have long since lost.

Cards for Color Monte (aka Bunko Bet) are certainly not included in the Elite/Blue Gaff Deck that comes with Packet Killer, nor is it taught on the Simon Lovell DVD. However, cards for Color Monte are included in the Essential/Ultimate Gaffed Deck (Red Deck), which is also from Magic Makers, and is the gaff deck included in their Ultimate Gaff Deck Kit. This Kit also has a DVD featuring magician Kris Nevling teaching 13 tricks with the cards from the deck, one of which is the Color Monte trick, and also a trick with a spider gimmick. I have both decks, and while they have a lot of overlap (e.g. Wild Card), they also have some small differences, like the one you mentioned. Is it possible that the other deck you bought was the Ultimate Gaffed Deck, and was part of the Ultimate Gaff Deck Kit with the Kris Nevling DVD, or did it still come with the Packet Killer DVD featuring Simon Lovell? Both sets are available for amazing deals on Amazon right now actually. Packet Killer: $22 on Amazon Ultimate Gaff Deck Kit: $17 on Amazon |

Yeah, I looked back at the orders and what I have and that is exactly it, both of those you've mentioned. I was happy when I thought I had 2 of the same, now I am even happier

Has "Packet Killer" changed, or just the packaging? I see one with Simon on the front for $19.95 from Walmart / Rock Ridge and one with a fan of 4 gimmicked cards. The Simon version says something like "over 40 tricks" while the other one says "over 50 effects" and is $32.

I'll answer my own question... the packaging has just changed. I bought a new one and it arrived the other day. Great replacement gimmicks (or new ones if you didn't have all of them)
