Having just completed the first two courses with the Alakazam Academy, I thought I'd post my thoughts in case anyone else is looking at joining a course - I am not associated with Alakazam in any way other than a very satisfied customer.
So far this is proving to be a brilliantly relaxed way of learning magic with a lot of content in addition to the tricks being taught. Both John Carey and Michael Vincent have talked a lot about presentation, psychology and many anecdotes which you just wouldn't get on a DVD, as well as being able to add titbits based on live questions. Peter, Dave and Andy are also fonts of knowledge who have been facilitating and presenting the courses fantastically with help of Sarah who has been keeping track of the questions. How it works There is no subscription for the Academy, just sign up for whichever course(s) take your fancy. The courses you buy are streamed Live in real time to your Alakazam account at 7pm UK time (usually) on the dates given. During this live stream you can interact and ask questions using a chat box. After the live stream has finished the lesson will be saved into your account for you to re-play or download whenever you like, but the lesson will not be available to buy anymore (unless it's a multi-lesson course when it will be available until the end of the course). However the course may be re-run live again in the future as a new live lesson though which you could sign up for instead. If you buy a lesson but can't watch live it'll still be saved into your account afterwards (usually available sometime the next day). If you sign up to a course then there are sometimes discounts available on future courses for a period and sometimes offers on the tutor's products. All in all the first two courses - the 6-week Zero to Hero with John Carey and the Mastering the Classics course with Michael Vincent - have been fantastic value for money and I will be watching them back over and over again! |

I so recommend this format. It is NOT a lecture but a REAL 'Virtual' Classroom [ACADEMY] - As an attendee I have been able to say 'Hey can you explain that again' OR 'can you show that again from a different camera angle' and THEY STOP and do it. It really is 'Interactive' ... They should call it 'Alakazam Online INTERACTIVE Academy'.
PLUS they have invested in some killer HD Cameras that ROCK! They have a great group of Alakazamies (Academy Followers) that banter in the chat keeping it FUN and interesting. Peter Nardi surely is changing the 'learning' landscape in magic. As with anything Alakazam puts out... you can expect QUALITY! Check out all the Academy Classes here: https://www.alakazam.co.uk/category-Magic-Academy-.html They are always adding new instructors! |
