Came up with this handling for an idea Doc Docherty had.

Enjoyed it. I think eye contact during the Faro and replacement phase (packet cutting sequence) would make this effect much stronger.

Aren't the trick mechanics the same as a Mike Powers effect from his Power Plays book? I can't recall the trick name though. I remember a version with an open prediction.

I believe it's pretty much the same thing as a trick called Numerical Analysis by Mike Powers in his PP book.

Mike Powers' routine is most definitely a starting point for this idea

To be honest Rick, I don't see any significant difference between what you're doing and my trick "Numerical Analysis" mentioned above. What do you think the significant differences are?
I take a fast way to put the spec's card at 26. You drop packets and get it at 26. Or so it seems. In other words, get the selection to 26. I have a different spectator count the cards and then call stop at the number instead of having the selectee count the cards. I have two spectators deal back and forth instead of one spec and the magician. I like the idea that I never touch the deck after the selection is replaced. Seems to be the same trick to me. Mike

The differences are not significant enough to be a different trick.
I apologize. I just thought it to be a neat premise to present it as a card found at an unknown number. The priniciple is just so cool I don't know how to alter the shuffling sequence. So, it is mostly the same trick. |

I think I see what you're thinking. I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong. I just think it's the same trick as "Numerical Analysis."
You had the same person who made a selection count the cut cards and then deal to her number. I had a different spectator cut cards and tell the person when to stop. Same thing - someone cuts and counts and the dealer stops at that number. I just don't see it as a variation but rather as slightly different in presentation in that one person both selects, cuts and counts. Maybe Claudio has a thought on this. Mike

I’m with Mike on this, but as Rick has graciously apologised to him, there’s not much to add. I’ll just point out that in this kind of automatic trick, the process is essentially the effect, although one needs a good presentation to showcase it. Other aspects are usually not critical factors.
