I just had a great lesson with Jason England over Skype. Although the purpose was quite focussed - controlling a slug - he covered tons of ground, illustrating all sorts of techniques and subtleties. He also showed various applications including an impressive Ace production, the order chosen by the spectator. Of course he displayed deep expertise and knowledge. But I was also delighted by his patient instruction and real desire to help me understand everything. Well worth the investment and I’m looking forward to our next lesson.

Is it possible to do a private lesson on the Bottom Deal if I have only been working on it for 9 months?

But, if you wanted to buy a small bundle of lessons (as some have done in the past) then the price drops. Incidentally, the lessons aren't geared towards beginners, though beginners would undoubtedly get a lot out of them. But beginners have many places to turn for information. These lessons are designed for people that are trying to move out of the beginner stage (or out of the intermediate stage). I'm happy to work with anyone of course, but I recommend complete beginners look elsewhere. My prices are too high for someone that's never shuffled cards before (IMO). But if you want to take things to the next level, I'm ready when you are. Jason

But I think absolute beginners would be better served by spending that $100 on Giobbi's Card College or on a dozen Dover reprints of books like Royal Road and Scarne on Card Tricks. Yes I can help with bottom deal rhythm issues, although sometimes that just means that I spot it and tell you to work on it. Rhythm improves over time, not by me providing you with any specific piece of information that you don't already have. A possible exception to this might be if you were doing something wrong that was throwing off your rhythm - then we could work on fixing that aspect. Jason

While I have not taken a lesson with Jason, I did see him at Magic Live during the multi-lecture thing they had..I spent most of my time at his table and must say he was incredibly concise. The level of knowledge he shared was astounding and I can only imagine these lessons a worthy investment.

I too have just had an online lesson with Jason and can't recommend it highly enough! Just what I needed to start taking my card work to that next level beyond books and videos. He had so much great advice and I have taken away heaps of new information to work with. Anyone thinking of getting lessons from him, don't hesitate! He was such a great guy to chat to and a true master with a deck of cards.

A private lesson with Jason would be money well spent.

I almost never advertise anything of my own (I let others do it for me), but I had several people ask about Skype lessons at Magic Live in Las Vegas earlier this month. If you're interested, for the next few weeks, I'm offering what is essentially a "half-off" price special: $100 for 2-2.5 hours lesson. It's usually $100 for an hour. I can't drop the price but I can offer you a bit more time per session.
This is geared towards intermediate card workers that want to improve their seconds, bottoms, false shuffles, palms, etc. PM or email me if you're interested. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Jason

The problem with experts is that they are expert. Sometimes they have forgotten how hard they worked to achieve their level or the difficulties they have encountered on the path. From what people say about Jason show that it is not the case with him and his teaching skills seem great. I think we could all benefit a lot from a dvd showing Jason and an intermediate student sessionning to learn a difficult sleight like the bottom deal. An idea for the Theory11 team…
