Hi People,
This is my first post in TGS. Even though I already have contact with some members of this BB. This is a question for the knowledgeable members. First of all, I'm from Spain, and I can say that we had have and very rich culture in everything related to gambling and cheating in any way possible. Lot of games with the spanish deck of cards, variations of the 3 shell game dating back to the 14th century are still on the streets (my first contact with sleight of hand came from gipsy friends and shell game at school). That said, I know some techniques that still remain unpublished but most of then are not useful in the modern game or not even designed for such games. So, those of you "in the know",living in locations such as Vegas,How many useful techniques do you think are still unpublished? I'm not asking for an exact number. I mean, in the last years a great amount of stuff came out to the public, for example, the last video of Paul Wilson on coolers, the N Strippers stuff from Theory 11, the Fast Jack lecture on dice switching, and so on. I appreciate any answer, and this is a totally honest question. Crooked. |

I'll be honest with you, 99.99999 % of all scams ran in the casino aren't "moves" that you would see on ellusionist or theory 11. You would be better off studying social engineering than any sort of move or magic trick. Those things work for home games not casinos.

Nevertheless, what I mean is if you think that there's a lot of techniques (pure sleight of hand) that still remain unpublished and just for the eyes of a few ones. Crooked. |

A twist or angle on some basic method can produce a great deal of money. What is almost impossible for many people who are students and basically hobbyists to grasp is it is not really the method or whether it is published or unpublished, known or unknown, that is of great importance. The deception and success of whatever one does is based upon the situation it is employed in: the timing, the grift sense, the con and the shading of the play and many other factors. It is not simply a case of having a "new" move or a magic "unknown" method. Many advantage plays are situational and come and go. These methods primarily use intelligence to be successful, can generate good income and cannot be called "cheating" techniques, although some do cross the line. Of course, some methods are better than others, some are lesser known, some have a new twist that make them different or "unknown" and on, and on, and on. Sometimes a very old method that has been forgotten by most is revived and becomes "new" and "unknown" again. When people come up with a new "angle" they are usually very tight-lipped about it. They use it until they get too much heat, become suspected of doing something, or even caught. That could happen in the first week or so, or it can last for years. It depends. There is no hard and fast answer to your question because the situation is fluid and those who are using a new angle, twist or technique do not broadcast it. Of necessity, data is limited in that regard and certainly specifics are not going to be broadcast on a public forum like this. As I have said before, "It is not WHAT you do but HOW you do it," which entails a great deal of additional factors and variations. This goes well beyond "moves" and basic methods most learn academically and one cannot learn or even grasp these additional "more important" factors by reading about them. One has to have a lot of experience doing these things under fire to understand the "how it is done factors" or more importantly "how to actually do it" to make it viable, effective, and to make significant money doing so. This goes well beyond academic understanding and discussion. There is no Holy Grail of cheating techniques. There are only those who can do it, and those who can't. |
