Hi all. I have a Nielson Vanishing Coke Bottle, about 12-15 years old. It's seen minimal use but unfortunately I left my table/case too close to a radiator last winter and it didn't melt, but the rubber formed this sticky, oily coating that will not come off. My question is, have I ruined it beyond repair by leaving it next to a heat source or is there something I can do to restore it. Thank you all very much for your help.

It is mentioned how to remove the sticky substance in the instructions sheet that came with the bottle.
There was a greeting card, years ago that said, "If all else fails, read the instructions." The instructions mention lighter fluid, that chemical has naphtha in it, so if you can find naphtha at the hardware store, try that as well. If you can't get it all off, then yes, you have destroyed the bottle, as that is oils needed in the make-up of vinyl bottle. |

You can also try Goo-Gone - wipe it down good and remove the residue with a soft cloth. If this works, wash the bottle in warm soapy water and rinse. If it's still sticky, you need a new bottle!

Forgot the warning, read the bottle labels and instructions. These cleaning agents are toxic. Wear good gloves and work in a well ventilated area, without an open flame anywhere near your working area.
