Dear Mr. James,
Thank you for your insights of my query in previous thread... by the way, being an administrator of a local magic newsgroup, I selfishly would like to conduct a mini interview with you. I hope that you can make some comments on following questions and ignore those that you do not feel comfortable to answer. 1.Can you tell us a little bit about your background? 2.Do you have any other interests besides Magic? 3.How long have you been interested in Magic? 4.Who/What has been your biggest influence in Magic? 5.What type of Magic do you most enjoy watching? 6.What type of Magic do you least enjoy watching? 7.Who is your favourite Magician? 8.What type of Magic do you most enjoy performing? 9.Do you ever perform tricks by, "Other" magicians? 10.What is your favourite trick? 11.Do you prefer Books or Videos as learning tools? 12.How do you decide on what Books or Videos to buy? 13.What is your favourite Magic Book? 14.What is your favourite Magic Video? 15.What is your most prized possession (regarding Magic)? 16.What is your Pet Hate in magic? 17.What has been the highlight of your Magical life? 18.Do you have any regrets in Magic? 19.If someone asked you to recommend 10 Magic Books or Videos, what would they be? 20.What advice would you give to someone when they are selecting tricks to perform? 21.What advice would you give to someone just starting in magic? 22.Do you have any final thoughts or suggestions for the readers? Thank you for your time and patience to my questions. I am looking forward to see your performance as you mentioned before that you are going to film your instruction video series in coming future. Sincerely, Steven Leung Card magic student from Hong Kong

Steven,
I answered a very similar set of questions for another Asian chat board many months ago. I suggest you see that site for my answers. Beyond that, I think my postings during this week address many of the issues your questionaire poses in far more depth than your list invites. I won't address the remaining questions when posed en mass. I appreciate your curiosity but don't feel much useful information would be generated by filling in your list. Wesley James |

Ambitious,
I was not offended, I simply don't see a practical way to answer your series of questions in a way that would provide meaningful information without writing a book. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not real good at short answers. My previous effort at answering a similar set of questions persuaded me of the conclusion I stated above. Those answers are not on my web site but you are welcome to check: http://groups.msn.com/cardmagic/interviews.msnw I believe that site is owned by Zenneth Kok. I have no problem with your intentions and would be happy to comply if I thought I could do your request justice in this forum. I am not so convinced and, therefore, responded as I did. Peace, Wesley James |
