I got loads of magic goodies, lol. . Most interesting was probably cubed card. Most boring was some new decks of cards . Most bookish was card college lightest. Most dvdish was world's greatest gambling routines with cards. Will be sifting through my haul over the next few weeks

Zip.
But I gave nothing, so I'm not complaining! I bought MYSELF Axel Hecklau's "Just A Cup". I got a free mentalism effect. But ya gotta buy a $40 deck of cards for it to work. LOL! I did gift a 9-year old girl with a Magic Drawer Box a few weeks ago. Five bucks, no big deal. Not even sure she likes it. Magic effects are difficult to give as gifts. For SO many reasons... Doug |

This is the first Christmas in a long time where I didn't ask for or get anything magic related. However, my Birthday always falls on or around Magi-fest, so my wife is cool with me treating myself to Friday or Saturday full of lectures and dealer room visits! I have no complaints.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Past year or so I have been really working on and cleaning up what I already do. Making sure everything is the best I can have. So for Christmas I got Pro Table Base which I converted a very nice looking chopping board for the top. Also go some very nice silver dollars as well.
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

I received a very special surprise, touched by magic beyond expectations.
The day after Christmas I was sorting through boxes of papers and junk left over from the years of being a care provider for my parents (dad passed three years ago, mom five) Most items were legal papers we were required to keep, letters from kids, old photos, etc. But, there was also a large envelope addressed to me! Printed on the front was, "Merry Christmas, Ian." This had to be from MagicIan (Ian Garrison) back in 2011 when he stayed with us at our home. He was doing a lecture at the Knoxville Magic Club and I invited him to stay with us rather than a hotel. He loved shared meals with me, wife and parents -- telling stories of magic found in everyday life. Privately, we had many fine discussions of magic methods, especially those grounded in 'non-derivative creativity.' His passing was a definite loss to the magic community. Apparently, he gave this package to my Dad for later delivery, but with his growing dementia ... So, I now have a home-made DVD of an unpublished magic effect - a mixed coin Matrix approach Ian devised. He knew I can't perform it with my arthritic fingers. A legacy? Whatever made me desire to sort through that box? Why at Christmas? Must be magic!
"the more one pretends at magic, the more awe and wonder will be found in real life." Arnold Furst
