Does anyone know who makes the boxes in this video and if they're still available?

No - it is no longer available, that was 10 years ago or more, the last time I seen this set.

Laflin Magic Store (run by David Laflin, Duane and Mary Laflin's son) used to sell a painted wood nest of boxes that looked similar, but now they sell 2 different (non painted) sets of wood nest of boxes.
https://www.laflinmagicstore.com/Nest-of......nobw.htm https://www.laflinmagicstore.com/Splay-N....../snb.htm If you want a set that's colourful, you might want to check out the ones from Tommy James: http://www.tommyjamesmagic.com/store/ind......ct_id=58 (out of stock, but ask to be on the waiting list... also I've seen these for sale used) There's also the ones from David Charvet: http://charvetmagic.com/catalog/i1.html http://charvetmagic.com/catalog/i2.html I'm pretty sure that Tommy James's boxes are ones made of cardboard, and that David Charvet's boxes are ATA cases (wood / metal). Different materials than just wood boxes. Just in case someone doesn't understand why the price differences in these various versions. - Donald

Hobby Lobby has many sets of wooden boxes, unfinished so you can paint them or varnish them yourself. One example: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbie....../p/28562 - There are many other wood and cardboard box sets from which to choose.
If you know how to gimmick one of the boxes, you are all set. Otherwise you can learn how in "Building a Better Nest" from The Wizards' Journal #13-11.

Yeah, it looked pretty bad. I've seen that tri-color wooden one up close before, and it works great. Would definitely go with that.
Although, if you have the cash, the cadillac is the Charvet set. I know David and have done shows with him before, and seen that set up close. They're beautiful and well worth the money. |
