I like Ross Bertram's color change, but would like to know what you consider to be a decent color change for working conditions as opposed to one camera conditions.

Hi Chris,
I use the side steal color change all the time when working, and it gets a reliable reaction. I have used Marc DeSouza's Shapeshifter as well as it is a good one. You wont have a problem re: angles with either of them. Chris Bruce |

It doesn't get much better than the Erdnase colour change when done well.

One that flies under the radar is Jose De La Torre's color change.

Erdnase and shake changes are both great! Sometimes they even work as outs if you make a mistake in finding a spectators card.

Keep in mind I don't have it, haven't read the booklet, etc. etc. - just saw the video and wanted to learn, like you. Good luck. It looks so elegant you know it's gonna be a doozy to learn. Let us know if you pick it up. I'll be keeping my eyes open for it, too.

It entirely depends on the situation. With Bertram for example, you have to handle the cards independent from the deck, which usually involves putting the deck down. With Erdnase, the card has to be on the face of the deck. If you're just referring to a simple
"Pick a card. This isn't your card, but if I do this...it changes into your card" trick, then I suppose I'd do a side steal color change, but even then you have to think about what the effect is going to be. Do I make it change by rubbing or do I wave my hand? |

Gotta watch your angles with the Bertram change, but still a beautiful change nonetheless. Can't go wrong with the Erdnase color change, and also the shapeshifter, same with the shake change

I was looking for a color change that Eric Mead performed at EMC 2010 , pack was cut in two , first cut was rubbed against his sleeve and the face changed to an ace , second cut was rubbed against his other sleeve and it changed to an ace too . It was so magical , btw Jose de la Torre's color change can be found in Bill Malone's DVD Here I Go Again DISC 1 4th trick I think , you need to have big palms though xD

Hi Keyser - What you describe sounds like the first two productions of Sleeve Aces by Earl Nelson. In the full version the deck is cut and rubbed on the opposite sleeve. Then the other half is rubbed on the other sleeve. The faces of the packets are shown to be the two black aces. These are thumbed off and the process repeated. This time the faces are the red aces.
Here's a YouTube vid showing the basic idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfFJYHHJYf0 Mike
