"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

All discussion and hype aside It is a non-tossed out deck routine and what you would expect from a Tossed Out Deck. routine. If you have never performed a Tossed Out Deck and want to add it to you repertory then this is arguably a great place to start (and finish). If you already perform a TOD then Nick offers some valuable tips and twists that will help you ramp yours up a notch. I've performed a TOD for number of years off and on since David Hoy first fooled me badly with it in the late 60s. I have made my own decks for decades. depending on the deck I used it has cost upward of $50.00 for the deck (but in truth with bicycle cards it normally cost on the average of$15.00 a deck). How is Nick's different than other TOD on the market? Well first and foremost the deck doesn't get tossed (thus the "NON" in the title of the routine). Nick explains his reasoning (decks coming apart, hitting people due to lighting factors, poor vision, poor throwing and/or catching ability, etc.) and his solution. He even includes a nice "thing" (gimmick??? aid???) to facilitate the handing the deck out (and get a gentle laugh). Nick also has distilled some of the best features of other versions of the TOD into this rather streamlined, well paced, and fun routine. Years of experience, honing, and polishing show. It is a solid routine. What you get in the box: First you get the instructional DVD: It is pretty basic, shot in Nick's library, easy to navigate, and while brief it is complete with no fluff or filler. The picture and sound quality is good. It is exactly what you need to learn and perform this routine. Two decks of Bicycle playing cards. The first deck is the actual TOD. It is fully explained on the DVD. The second deck is really an "out" for that time when you have a forgetful, vision impaired, anxious, spectator who miss-calls (forgets, miss-sees, etc) their card. OR for that one Butt-head that is invested in screwing you up. Nuff said other than it is a brilliant safety feature. Finally, you get a useful gizmo/gaffus/gimmick to facilitate you handing the deck out over the heads of spectators. I nice touch, gets a laugh and you may or may not use it (I do). Value for the money: Like all of Nick's stuff the real value is in the years actual performance in honing the routine. You are getting a routine from the man's act. I'd say that more than makes it worth the asking price. That you get the needed deck and the extra bits is icing to the cake.
