You obviously get to see a lot of magicians perform at all levels. What effect, packet trick or gimmick do you most see abused on a regular basis?

You know, the one where you cringe when the performer pulls it out of his pocket or bag. Then for those of us that might own this same item, how would you suggest bringing out its potential?

In short what do you most hate to see and how would you make it better?

This is a very interesting question.

It's only at magic conventions, though, when you see this sort of thing.

If all these magicians are performing the same effect in the real world, for laymen, then it must be a good effect.

Yes there are some effects that I cringe at, that's just becuase I've seen it a million times. However, it could still be an absolute killer in the real world.

I guess an example would be the vanishing cig in hank with thumb tip. I don't need to see it, but it KILLS for lay audiences.
