I'm looking for spooky or seance type effects that focus on a specific place, like a room, a house, a ship, or something similar, but which are not book tests. For instance, "Here's a photo of a house, and something weird happened inside."
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Why not show several photos, all of which have interesting history, and then let the participants chose their choice and then go into a regular seance routine. A single routine could be adapted to any photo chosen. It's all storytelling anyway.

Down the Hatch by Brynmore.
Paul Voodini's past life regression work. Some Bill Montana stuff like the Mortician's Headrest.

Old newspapers, old maps, detailed histories of the place, and old photos are a good place to start. What I do is find a seed from these resources and build upon it. Like Willie says, it is storytelling. Often times, you need not "enhance" the facts, but feel free to do so if it is a performance situation.

What about a good ole’ fashioned sefalaljia? Just spin a story about how the wood used to make the box all came from the same haunted room.
