I would like to know your ideas and suggestions on how to pick up the table with all the bottles once the routine is over. I would like to take them out of the stage with the curtain open as quickly as possible... without accidents!!!

There are several threads here that deal with multiplying bottles. However I have not found any information about this "take away" issue.

How do you manage this?

THX!

There are trays that are made for them that have a panel that lifts up and holds the bottles. I think FAB makes one. Otherwise, I have seen a topless and bottomless cardboard box put over the bottles. It was made to look like a case of liquor. I hope that helps.

Here is a video of one of my favorite performers - Master Payne - with his version of multiplying bottles. Check out the very end of the video for his locking tray. I’m sure it is similar to the one Jef describes, but I believe he constructs the tray he uses himself.

I’m not sure, but I’ve seen how he constructs these trays somewhere. It might be in his book, or perhaps it was on his Facebook page. If I recall, his tray broke in transit a while ago and he had to make one shortly before a gig and did pictures. The obvious advantage of building it yourself is it fits your bottles perfectly, and each bottle and glass ends up exactly where you want it to, including the kicker final bottle with liquid, if you use one.

Hope that helps.

Alan

Try searching for Joe Lefler's Multiplying Bottle Tray.

Joe Lefler passed away a number of years ago. The person that is making his table designs, I don't believe, is making his bottle tray. Just checked and it is not listed on the website.

Fab Magic tray is workable, and not as pricey as the other models.

Aha! I was, of course, aware that Joe passed aways some time ago, but I thought this prodcut was still being made. I didn't look close enough at the page where I found it....

Chris Weed of Showtime Magic owns the rights to the Joe Lefler line. He has made some props that aren't on his website.

I recall seeing Chris share photos of the tray on Facebook, etc. So, I would contact him directly to ask about the Multiplying Bottles Tray that he sells.

I just asked Chris directly (he's a friend), and this is what he said:

Thank you I can’t recall my user name and password but you can share this

I made a few and found them extremely hard to make and therefore cost prohibitive to manufacture.

As Bill mentioned about FAB magic has something that is fairly affordable and might be workable for you.

Thank you very much guys for all your hints. Your recomendations are of great help to me.

I didn't know the special multiplying bottle trays, I find them very interesting. Not sure if I could apply one of this to my current routine, because I move and push the bottles and glass over the table surface several times during my act, maybe the precut holes will hamper this sliding movements over the table.

The topless and bottomless cardboard box seems a quite interesting idea too.

Lance Burton uses a box to cover them as well.

I too recommend just a cardboard box with no top and bottom that folds flat. I covered mine with red velvet. Push the bottles together, drop the box over them and then strike the table.

My table rolls off, but when the stage conditions are tough, or the audience is close, working with a platform or on the same level, I push the bottles together and cover them with a cardboard box with a logo. The top of the box is closed, so that the audience milling about can't see into the tops of the bottles. I move it to a private area to take it down.
