Secrets are figments invented and possessed by the magician having no visible or tangible form. The safest place to guard these secrets is to hide them within a book, not a vault. Only those who apply the effort to read and understand these magical creations will learn the secrets, and create theatrical mystery and wonder with them. The effort and practice required is what protects these secrets. No key or combination is required since the vault is not locked, and in fact is open to anyone. The secrets are hidden in plain sight, yet they are still well protected. Hence the vault is empty, because it need not contain anything.
