Watch the clip a few more loops and you can see it.
Also the end of the lower card that 'chops' the thumb does not appear when its supposed to.

Why is it the thumb is always the star of the show? Why not one of the fingers?

Thumb thing isn't bad for what it is. I like Andrew Mayne's finger chopper too. With adults I always like to use the joke when it doesn't chop through "well, that's okay, I guess I don't have to give you the finger!"
