The little information which I do have is that Gene passed on July 23rd. Knowing Poinc, I doubt he would have any interest in the details of his passing being known. He rather wished we honor and make use of his contributions.
Poinc was a great inspiration who created the most unconventional magical tales. Though several books of his are in different stages of publishing, he is best known in magic as the author of The Practitioner, Journeys Into Grey. There you will find lessons to broaden your concept of what magic can be and do. My short two year friendship with Gene was part of the energy that inspired AM/PM. Magic is better for he having visited it. If any can return from there, it shall be Poinc. Tom Cutts |

I will always treasure the day we spent with Gene in his dusty apartment in L.A.
We kept him up far past his bedtime, but he didn't seem to mind, as he entertained us for hours regaling us with stories from his past. I take comfort in the fact that he will be with us always; in our thoughts and our memories. And that his legacy will live on, through his words and his books. Gene was a believer in reincarnation, so I can safely presume that he has chosen to trade in his tired broken old body for a brand new model... And he will be back. I eagerly await the time in the not too distant future when I hear about some young uprising performer, who has a unique take on the old magical craft, and tells wonderful stories to accompany the simplest of tricks. And I know that this young person will visit me in my dusty house in the Pacific Northwest, where I will regale them with stories of my past, especially the time I had the pleasure of knowing a likable curmudgeon named Gene. And thus we will have come full circle once more, knowing the wheel turns ever on...

This is very sad, I was hoping to meet him someday. Philemon has given me some hope for that still.
He will truly be missed |

I agree, very sad indeed. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but we did communicate by email, and he was a great inspiration and help.
I just wish I could of spoke to him, as I only got his book a little over a week ago, and I wanted to tell him how much I loved his work. |

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. He sounded like a really cool guy. I never got to read any of his books, even.

I wanted to add my sympathies. I loved his website and comments in SMOKE & MIRRORS. I think we have suffered a great loss, since he understood what magic was supposed to be.

A great loss to the art of magic, a great gain for the afterworld!
Rest in peace Gene.
