There's a local magician, Scott Hitchcock, who performs solo at Caesar's Magical Empire, and often performs magic & dancing with his fiancee as "Magic Feets".
Scott is a great magician, and regularly teaches at magic camp. For those unfamiliar, it's an event for teen magicians, held every summer, where they can learn about magic and improve their act. A few years back, Scott had a young student by the name of Ben Curtis. He had a great knack for magic, and also pursued an acting career. One year, shortly after attending magic camp, Ben called up Scott with some exciting news. "I got the part," Ben said, "and it's a national commercial!" Scott, of course, congratulated him, and ask when Ben's commercial would be on. Being a national commercial, many of you may have seen Ben's work. Probably the most recognizable thing Ben says in his ads is, "Dude, you're getting a Dell." |

Scott,
I think Scott Hitchcock and his beautiful partner performing as "Happy Feet" are one of the best kept secrets in magic. We could all learn from their inovation and enthusiam. We all have something to embrace from this wonderful, creative pair. Ted (Leondo) |

Ben Curtis is certainly a great acting talent. Would be a bigger star in the future if he started performing some magic on TV. Eh? "Dude, your gettin a dell!" *Poof!* (Dell computer appears on neighbors desk)

Yeah, Ben's a great guy--he and I were roommates at Tannen's Magic Camp for a couple years, and unfortunately we've since been out of touch. I was quite pleasantly surprised to see him on the Dell spots.

A few months ago I watched Scott Hitchcock and his fiancee perform as 'Magic Feets' at The Magic Castle. Wow! What a great act. They were the talk of the Castle that entire week!

I must apologize to Scott Hitchcock and Joan DuKore (his fiancee) for referring to their act as "Happy Feet". The name of their act is "Magic Feets" (you'll note I've edited my initial post to reflect this). Their act is great and doesn't deserve the mis-naming I accidentally gave them.

What sort of stuff does Ben do in the magic world? Comedy, doves, minipluation? Does he still do anything magic now that he's in commercials?

Oh and one more thing...
In response the success of the new Dell commercials, Microsoft is making a commercial that will feature some ventriloquism, juggling, magic and some other things. Sounds pretty cool to me. Justin |

I'm not sure if they plan to tease the magic community, make fun of it, or praise it. I know very little, just that they will have talents like that. Let's hope and pray they don't make fun of us.

Also, while we're on the subject of magic and commercials... Does anyone know who the magician is who is doing that Cingular commercial that's airing right now? Is he an actor or real magician? Just wondering!

The curly haired guy in the Cingular commercial is magician Justin Willman, aka Justin Kredible, originally from St. Louis and a recent graduate of Emerson College (where I am also currently studying) here in Boston. Justin's a great guy, he did the convention circuit for a while with a soda fountain themed act a few years back, and has been doing lots of family shows and some college work here in Boston.

He has a cool name! Darn, if only I had thought of it
"How did he get the job?" is a question that's probably on many of the magician minds here at the Cafe. Justin |
