Hi!

I was just wondering how many people that do card magic also do stage. I do a lot of card magic, but not much stage. I was thinking about dropping my stage act and doing only cards. Why do you do only cards or both cards and stage.

I don't have a stage act (yet), but I would say it would be best to only use giant cards, or do productions, vanishes, flourishes, etc. Although cards are my favorite props in magic, it would not be a good idea to have people pick a card, or do your favorite ace production or assembly, for a stage setting.

Thanks,

I have done several card tricks on stage. Look no further than Simon Lovell or Jeff Hobson.

Here's some:

I do both cards and stage, mainly because some clients want close-up magic while others want stage magic.

David Ginn has a comedy card on back soft cover book that I think he mainly uses for kids shows, but I think it could be pulled off on adults as well. Don't know if your show has comedy in it but this routine could play off well, if anything else save in case of a heckler at the show.

The experience of performing on stage will help your close-up performances.

On stage, you need to act to express what you want to express. On stage, you need to walk nicely and to keep good posture. You need more trained behaviors on stage compared with working close-up.

However, such behaviors are needed also in close-up performances. If you experience performing on stage, you will learn that importance.
