The effect:
A card is chosen (Eight of Hearts), and reappears on top. Then it's given to the spectator to sandwich in his hands for "safe keepings", while a new card is introduced - say the Five of Clubs. Then the card is turned down again, and the magi waves the five on top of the spectator's hand, and the cards switch places - Ending with the Five in the hands of the spectator, and the Eight in the hands of the magi. I know the method, but I don't know the name and origins. Anyone who does?

Elmsley's Between the Palms has a little more going on than that, but the premise is kind of the same.

Samuel, I believe you are referring to "Two Card Monte." Recently performed to millions by David Blaine.

Sgrossberg,
Yes, I think you are right. Please note that I'm not talking about the Ellusionist effect with the same name.
