Hi all,
I was just looking for a little advice on the side slip, the reason being I'm having some probs getting it to look "natural". My little finger does the push, but my ring finger can't pivot the card out very far, and I end up feeding the card out gradually with my ring finger, very slow, and frustrating... My little finger doesn't grip the card half the time either, and there's this nasty little "click" every time I perform the sleight too. What am I doing wrong? Guess I shouldn't give up the day job quite yet... Thanks in advance

I think most of your problem is just practice. The little finger or ring finger can push the card out as far as needed. Your little finger will catch it with practice. Make sure the card is rotating around that right little finger when you start. As for the click. Your right hand is too high. When the card is removed it snaps up. I would suggest Ed Marlo's book on the Side Steal. It is the best out there, in my opinion. As far as natural goes, I do the side steal in combination with the card selection so it is never seen. PM me if you want additional information.

The click sound can be a problem... I have that problem too. If you practice enough, you can find the best position of the deck/card so the sound it's almost none. I'm still working on it.
But keep practicing! When you got it right, you won't be disapointed. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone who has offered me assistance on this topic. I suppose it comes down to "practice, practice, then practice some more".
Thanks Again Stu

I forget who said it, but if someone came over and hit your hand, the cards should fall to the floor. Also, keep the card being stolen flat...do not put any pressure on the corners until after it has cleared the deck, and then, only if you are taking it into palm. If you are bringing it to the top or bottom, keep it flat. -Jim
