Once a year (sometimes more often) I take a hard look at my show and look at ways to improve.

I have decided in the coming year to add more ventriloquism to my shows.

For those who do both, what is your balance? I am thinking 60/40 magic/vent.

I started by just adding one vent routine to my act. Then as more material was well-enough rehearsed to use, I'd add it to the act. Now it may be 60 % vent and 40% magic, although I have my figure, Dodger, do magic too, so it may be 50:50.

I'd say use whatever is ready and don't worry about the ratio. The audience response will tell you if you're on the right track.
