Hello everyone!
I have this idea for my act to have the gloves on my hand continue to reappear throughout the act. I begin with gloves to dove and from there I would like them to come back twice. I have come up with one very nice method to do this that an be used in different places in the act but I am curious to know if there is anything mentioned in print on this topic or a principle that can be applied to have this happen. I have already realised that I will need to have my gloves forced into the shape or my hand. What is it that they place on cheese cloth to make it hold shape during halloween time to make little ghosts? that is what I will use if anyone knows what I speak of. Maybe we can get Kyle's help here with his wonderful brainstorming ideas and create some new ones? Kyle? DJ |

How many gloves do you have to do this

I would look at the "Magic of Alan Wakeling " book. It had some ideas for color changing gloves that could be adapted.
The easiest way I can is to stick your hand into something and suddenly you have a glove on it. Repeat with the other hand to get the second glove.

You could also rig it as a tear away type of glove with velcro or a magnet being used to grab the glove off the hand for the switch.
If this were the case, then only the sides of the glove would have to be slit along the seem and then held together with possible velcro tabs at the bottom. This would go unnoticed since the gloves are usually shown to the audience palm out or plam inwards (flat handed) The sides with the seems are never really in view much. You would just have to rig your table, ditch well or jacket with a means in order to grab the glove layer and keep it there as you pull your hand away revealing the glove underneath it. Another interesting concept would be to have sleeves for the fingers. I came up with this idea when I wanted to dip my black glove finger into a can of made up paint and have it come out red on the finger. Play around with it and you can come up with some other interesting methods. Kyle

How about building a sort of sheath that holds the glove stretched out so your hand just moves in and then out. You could have these in your jacket or on a table, etc.

I love the idea Tom! I was thinking of this. Kyle, I think you thought I was looking for colour changing glove ideas, but I am looking for reappearing gloves.
hugmagic, thanks very much for your help, I will grab the book, I am not working around tables, everything must be from the body. Will this book still help? What I should be asking is for possible misdirections for the steals of the gloves. That is what I am having trouble with. I know I will need to have the hand move out of site but I don't want to stick my hand into a pocket then have my glove appear. I want it to be a clean steal using misdirection and while that first glove is discovered I will steal the other. I have many things happening in my act. The places for misdirection are there I just need to find them..... Any ideas on how to steal my second glove will help as well..... I ask way too much guys, sorry, I truely appreciate it... DJ |

Use your tabel or a well in your table to be able to have your gloves rigged up. Use misdirection in several ways to allow you r hand to slip into this well to grab the glove.
For example you could be reaching across your table to light a candle. As you reach across to light it. your hand naturally falls into the well and gets the glove under cover of your body. Simple move. You can apply this for getting anything off your table to use in the next sequence. Another misdirection is the production of a streamer or a silk. you reach to your table with a peice of flash paper. The flash paper is brought over to a candle on your table. As the candle hits the flash paper, you make your glove steal at the same time you produce a silk or silk streamer. Kyle

Yes, he had one method that was inside the coat.
It is expensive but worth every penny. There are several other ideas that should get you thinking. Alan Wakeling is a great magic thinker.
