Welcome to the Magic Café Rafael!
I recently met you at LVMI where you entertained me and two other Spanish speaking magicians at your table with your elegant card magic and your wonderful lottery prediction effect. It was a grand pleasure meeting you for the first time and I have enjoyed your video tapes on card magic immensely. I was wondering if you could share with us any info about Jose "Pepe" Carrol, did you ever meet him and what was he like? I have studied some of his magic/writings through his books and would like to learn more about him as well. Finally, what advice would you give someone who just wants to entertain with nothing but card magic? Thank you, Roberto

Hello Rafael,
when talking about Jose Carrol, do you have any idea if the "new" spanish book will be translated into english. Greetings from Germany Stefan |

Hi Roberto. I know who you are. José Carroll was a hell of a performer. He did it all: close-up, illusions, big specials, top-notch card manipulation he was basically a close-up guy, and that's the are where he really excelled. I met him as soon as I arrived in Spain, and saw him perform many times. I think his best period was when he was heavily into card magic and before he got real famous. He then began hosting some non-magic TV programs.
To entertain with nothing but card magic. Well, you don't have to, but getting back to your question... actually, I do I all the time, mostly in non-professional performances, when I "just happen" to be carrying a deck of cards, and it's great. Make sure you use the variety card magic can have. It's not the props you use but what happens in the trick. You could do a card prediction, then a coin prediction and a newspaper prediction and it's all the same. Or you can do a very varied act with just cards. Learn when to stop, even if you have to leave out stuff that you like (the spectators don't need to know that). 15-20 minutes for a group of friends is quite a bit. |

Hello Stefan. I don't think there are immediate plans to release that book in English. The new book is an enhanced version of those that already exist in English.
