Carrie Sue has summed up so eloquently the path that lays before you . "But do you want to be a trickster, or a magician?" Where do you want you magic to take you ? But then we are off the subject .. Read , read read and did I happen to say read , every and any magic book you can get your hands on including books written for kids. When you really understand you are an actor playing the part of a Magician , then you magic will increase.
My suggestions 1)Mark wilson's Complte Course on magic and the pocket version too . 2) the entire Karl Fulves series ( I am currently reading the Hanky one and in the first 3 pages you will learn a trick that blows away every I have shown it to .) 3)Later on get Tarbell series. Work on impromptu magic ( no cards) as much as possible. That way you are not defined by the tricks you carry ( oh look its levitation boy again.. Hey I can see you foot pal!!) nothing cooler than picking up a saftey pin , hanky, napkin and performing some minor illusion .. Sure the card thru window will wow them but some thing in the back of their mind will tip the use of a gimmick. I find that people are more willing to believe the "minor" magic is possible but large illusions are just that illusions. ramble ramble ...
Have a Magical Day!

Carrie put it exceptionally well - it will get very expensive if you have a limited audience but there is a way out maybe you need to go scams....
3 shell, 3 card monte and fast&loose - fast&loose would most likely be your best bet.... why do I suggest these - they are some of the very few tricks that are REPEATABLE...
catch you later
