Only have a couple of days left here in southern Spain before flying back to England. Have had alot of fun performing in the bars for the most part. Only had one bad night where I tried to perform after drinking about ten whiskey/seven-ups....needless to say I couldn´t even see the cards much less perform adequately.
My best received "commercial" effects have to have been NFW, Hollow, Skinner´s Monte, and the Invisible deck, among others. "Hollow" definitely caused some eyes to pop out. The best part was running into the local magician who first got my interested stirred three years ago. He showed me a nice color change used by Copperfield, a stacked deck, Juan Tamariz´s broken/restored string routine(he studied with Juan for seven years), and some stuff involving invisible string. He is going to get me one of Juan´s books, signed by the master himself. Last night I was performing at the local bar(I always have to push it a little TOO far) for three people and this older guy was calling me on everything. He never said anything where anyone could hear....but he was irritating nonetheless. Then he criticized a side-steal I made because it "popped" slightly....enough was enough. So I had to shut him up by doing a Tabled Faro and then challenged him to pull off the same. I may not be the best at side-steals or some other sleights, but I can pull off Faros in my sleep. I definitely will miss this place until I return next summer. |
