I notice that Daryl in his "Fooler Dooler" presentations will say "I do nothing" in a vaguely Eastern European accent. I get the sense he is imitating a famous old magician. Does anyone know who this might be?

Maybe Aldo Colombini?

No, I get the feeling it might be a magician from another era.

Max Malini, perhaps? (See if you can get Johnny Thompson to 'channel' Malini sometime. Very entertaining.)

First, what does your post have to do with card magic???? (it should belong somewhere else)
And what makes you say that????

This is an assumption...

and you know what they say about assumptions?
(it makes an ASS of U and ...)

The only person who could give you a good answer is Daryl himself, so why don't you contact him through his website????

my 2 cents

Harry ... you sure you're not thinking of Sgt. Shultz from Hogan's Heroes Smile

This discussion reminds me of something I saw on one of Daryl's tapes, probably a "Fooler Dooler." He did a really stereotypic and exaggerated "Chinese" accent for a fairly extended time when presenting one of his tricks.

I was a bit surprised as some clearly would find this offensive. And it was just so unfunny. I've generally found Daryl's presentation to be smooth and effective.

I guess he likes doing accents.

Yeah, I was thinking of Slydini's "watch..no move..."
Dr. Lao: "Do you know what wisdom is?"
Mike: "No."
Dr. Lao: "Wise answer."

Harry is thinking of Manuel, the waiter from Barcelona on Fawlty Towers.

Daryl is paying homage to Slydini.
