Hi all,
I'm interested in purchcasing a confetti cannon. I want to shoot confetti into the audience at the climax of an act. It needs to be operated via offstage assistant or footswitch . So it would need to be propped on the stage aiming toward the audience. What has your experience been with confetti cannons? Where would you suggest I purchase one? How long will one last? Currently, I'm looking at theatre fx, are there any models there that you would reccomend getting? Thanks for all your help! Sammy |

Any of the Theatre Effects cannons are a good choice. The problem that I had was that the bracket that swivels for aim kept wearing out so I just carry a theatrical sandbag around as a prop up for it.

Not knowing the venue, or audience, the following may be a moot point!
Safety alert warning in effect! I would be a bit wary of shooting confetti into the audience, several reasons come to mind, most of them involving insurance issues. With a good tech, you can aim them from about half way back on the stage in the "apparent direction" of the audience, though the stuff only lands on the procenium in front of you. The last thing you will want is someone who gets a chunk of flutterfetti in their eye, then slips on the loose bits on the floor. (also the venue might not like having to clean up the stuff from the seating area) Safety alert off. That being said, there are a few that use compressed air, and some that use CO2- the little cylinders you get with a BB or pellet gun. (I have even seen a mechanical one, sort of like a skeet thrower- works with the Kabuki type streamers) I would suggest a google search and do some shopping around. How long it will last is a function of how it is made, and how it is handled, stored and used by you! If you toss it into the trunk f the car after each show, not long, if it has a travel case for itself and any cords, wires, holders, remote controls, likely a long time. You might check with local theatres and see what if anything, they use, and if you can get some demos of them. This includes school and college theatres.

That makes a good point, but even if it is shot from the back of the stage there can be a problem. I have seen one go off from the back and the launch cup hit a guy in the eye. Luckally it was at a magic convention and the guy was a magician and not seriously hurt.

Conwin Inc has a good selection of canon confetti
http://www.conwinonline.com/shop/shop.asp?pid=55140 Make sure you don't fill your audience's food with confetti if you perform in a banquet type. |
