Dick, I am thinking back maybe 40 years, and I believe you did that production of a brandy snifter in your lecture??

You remember! Yes, When I started working schools for the various assembly bureaus, I really didn't have time available for club dates, so, I decided to pass the bit along. It had served me well, but, it was time to move on! Thanks for remembering!
I wonder if Paul Vines is still living. We knew each other from our NAVY days in Norfolk. The last time that I saw Paul was the DAYTON OHIO IBM CONVENTION IN 1975.

I remember lots of things, Dick! I always know that I've seen something, but can't always put my finger on it. That's because I have a photographic memory, but it's not digital!
Yes, Paul Vines is still kicking and still going to magic conventions and club meetings. I believe he's in his late 80s. His wife Penny died a few years ago. It has been awhile since I talked to him. I need to call him.

Bob and Richard above offer some good advice and with the deaths of Rice and White the art of professional silk dying and prop creation has become limited. They are pros who know.
It is a tricky business (pun intended) to assure silks are well dyed for hard use -- fold and compression -- opacity and then sewn together using special techniques needed for the fabric which SEWS badly on ordinary sewing machines and common needles. Not that all good dyed silk has to come from USA artists -- but MOST bad silk knock-offs made for the magical trade, sold on the net to amateurs, are made for a few performances before they wear or break or develop hole and pulls. Many if not all of these are made in bulk for the curious and cheap. One of the best ways to find quality silks for MAGIC on a professional basis is to attend SAM or IBM national conventions and patronize the dealer rooms where you can compare goods for quality as well as amazement. Otherwise -- Bob and Richard can set you in the right direction -- or you can buy original well care for Rice or P&A editions knowing they are quality and will last with heavy pro use. I think this is a very similar standard one must also apply to "feather" stage flowers. Very few people are willing to invest in the properly died, cut and assembled feathers to use time and again without the shedding one gets from chicken feather knock-offs.

Yes! Gregg!
e.g.: I have silks that I bought from Harold RiCE, in the '60s! I know that Bob Sanders, and Richard Hughes, and Harold's daughter, Ruth, are THE people to go to when you plan to INVEST money in SILK. --AND. Richard Hughes, for FLOWERS.
