I've seen similar effects - i.e. Dove from book, but I find this effect looks much cleaner. Anyone know the name of this effect?

It's a dove frame without a picture on it. I've never seen this particular model with the silver frame portion. Doug Tilford used to make an excellent model that looked exactly like this but with an ornate gold frame. You stuck a cloth dove on the black part just like that guy did. The commercially available ones now usually have a picture of a dove sitting in a tree. The magician makes a gesture and a real dove flies out of the tree. The one in the picture is gone. Search pretty much any online magic store and you can find them for sale.

I could be wrong but I think he did some custom work to his frame. Check out how mine works at 20 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPVfTLMJo9E |

Thanks Dynamike. That thread gives a good understanding of the options.
