No idea what to call this, I want a gimmick'd card where it has a flap attached to the front of the card which looks like a full deck of cards.
(Like the lines on an omni deck) Anyone know what I'm talking about or where to pick one up? |

It may go under other names, but I know this was part of the Paul Harris vanishing deck (I'm talking about old school Paul Harris, not the material by Paul Harris Presents). Maybe someone else can confirm if this is sold separately, I remember he explained how to make one yourself.

It was also on video in one of his release from the 90's (now released as the Stars of Magic). And yes, the gimmick is something similar to what you describe. |

Could Humbug by Angelo Csrbone fit the bill?

I've seen these cards referred to as acrobatic cards, and flipper cards.

Weapons deck has a couple of those gaffs. Side on. Very deceptive. The deck bit part is an extension of a normal card. You bend it over 45 degrees.

I tell you what, it is what I was looking for some of these.
Although I was hoping for a QUALITY gimmick. I see most of these are a flap with drawn on lines.... pretty cheap! I can make my own. What I wanted was something REAL like an omni deck has cut in lines. I may try taking a card flap and putting it under a laser cutter to singe in lines.. so it has texture. |

The illusion of texture is usually just as good as actual texture. I made one of these using fine pencil lines and it looks just as good as an Omni Deck. Perhaps a thick, off-white paint and a suitible brush could give you the texture you need without being too cumbersome? Never tried it but seems like it'd work.

I suppose you could glue a deck together and then use some type of cutter to trim off a small part of one edge, but the printed ones have worked well for decades so I'd just go with those, or make your own with pencil lines. As with many gimmicks, you don't hold it right up to their eyes and there's no need to as that would only create suspicion. Also, it helps if you keep it in motion somewhat but there's no need to go overboard with it. The most important thing is that you believe it is what it appears to be and act natural and they will believe it too. |
