If given a piece of chocolate and then asked for their password, 43.5 percent provided their password. If asked first for their password and then given chocolate afterwards, 29.8 percent gave their password. Hackers don’t need skills, they just need chocolate!!!! |

Tangentially on topic, here's an easy way to remember every different password for every different site: Make an algorithm.
Pick a private 'constant' word or number, lets say you decide on your zip code, that being 58544. That selected word or number stays constant in every password, every site. Now, if you add that password/number to the NAME of the site, you have a password that is exclusinve to each site plus changes with each site, yet is easy to construct by following your algorithm; Zip + Site Name. "58544Facebook", Customize it by putting the zip before, after, in the middle...use a name, place, date or anything else instead of zip...just make sure you finally decide on ONE set of rules. Another example, Capitalize the first letter of the site and add your birthday at the end ...that would fulfill that common requirement of Upper Case, Lower Case, number. Anyway...it's an easy way to remember ALL your passwords with no apps or notes needed.

I have standard passwords depending upon the security level.
What I despise is when a low level site (IMO) requires an extremely complex password. For example: My time card requires a complex password, pin code, and a digital token readout (that changes every 30 seconds) just to input my work hours. However, what I see most people fail to protect is their email passwords. It doesn't matter how complex your bank/credit card passwords are if the forgot password links back to an email account with a simple password.

My PC recently prompted me to change my password. I tried to use "beefstew", but then my PC told me "Password not stroganoff".

It has to do with the "Law of Reciprocity" When you give people something, they are instinctively inclined to give you something back. Studies have shown that waiters that give you a mint or chocolate with the bill tend to get higher tips. Street performers will give out bits and pieces during their act to get fatter hats.
