Something is clearly amiss ... all that time, effort & energy in promoting 'Legacy' and all for nought.
They were still promoting guest name columnists up until this week & suddenly the plug is pulled. Just doesn't add up. Very sad. And in terms of the convention landscape - now IBM SAM / Live / Genii Con in 2017 ... ---------------- Changes to MAGIC Legacy, MAGIC Magazine, and MAGIC Live! MAGIC Legacy Stan Allen announced today that MAGIC Magazine will not be publishing the final 25 issues known as MAGIC Legacy. Unfortunately, the response was not strong enough to produce the magazines at a level befitting the end of an era. Stan thanked all of those who took the leap of faith with him, and assured them that they will receive a 100% refund, as well as their complimentary copy of Square One. MAGIC Magazine With Legacy cancelled, does that mean that MAGIC Magazine is over? Not exactly. Stan and his editorial team will produce one more issue — #301. If you are a current print subscriber, you will receive this final issue as part of your subscription, then a pro-rated refund for the balance of your subscription. MAGIC Live! It was also announced today that there will be a MAGIC Live next summer — August 13–16, 2017. And yes, that’s a year earlier than originally planned. It will be held once again at The Orleans in Las Vegas, with Alumni Registration opening November 30 and General Registration available on December 6, 2016. |

I'm pretty sure this will be the last Magic Live convention in 2017😣

Definitely not.
Magic Live will most certainly continue. Its a far more profitable endeavour than running a magazine. |

Fortunately we'll still have Genii...at least for now.
I'm really surprised no one wanted or offered to buy the publication and see it continue. Or maybe someone did and Stan refused?
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

You know that Genii has been sold, right? I too wondered why MAGIC wasn't sold. It's probably not hugely profitable, but if the paper were eliminated completely, it would be hard to make it a losing proposition.

MJE, I did know that Genii was sold, but was under the impression that there was still a printed magazine in the plans. Has that been changed? Not a deal breaker for me entirely, but I am old school, so I like some stuff in the 3D world.

Not so happy news about Magic Legacy folding and only one final issue of MAGIC Magazine coming, but very excited to see Magic Live continue and a year earlier than expected for the next one, so there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow after all.

Before Magic Live this year, we were teased...."How will it end?" And we found out that Stan waned to go out with a bang. I can't help but think of T.S. Elliot....This is how it ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Times have changed. Magic used to be my favorite magazine. Over the past few years I really think Genii has been better. I had dropped my Magic subscription and would only get the digital issue when there was a story about a friend, or something that really piqued my interest. I LOVE digital. But I WAS excited about Legacy...the line up he had announced was amazing. But, evidently not enough people thought so. I had only ever been to one other Magic Live and I was blown away by that one. It was my first trip to Vegas and my firs BIG convention. This year, I really felt that it had gotten TOO big. There was no way to see everything. The schedule was too tight and some events only scheduled once. They try to get you in the dealers room opening night and there were WAY too many people. Other than a few books that were released there, I don't think there was a MUST HAVE product released. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed myself. The close up show was probably the best I've ever seen, and the late night hang out sessions were fantastic. I was planning on doing the Genii convention next year, now...I have to make a decision. |

Genii will continue to offer both paper and digital subscriptions for many years to come. We have no plans to change that.
2017 will also not be the last MAGIC Live convention: it will also take place in 2018. The Genii Convention, for which we've just announced our artists (http://geniiconvention.com/#artists) will take place in October 2017. If we do another one, it will be in 2019. Join us! |

The line up so far for Genii looks AMAZING! Serveral guys I've really wanted to see but never have, (including one I thought was dead!) I'll be registering soon.

Be sure to get the dead guy to sign your program. It'll be worth a FORTUNE!

For the record, I'm not referring to Vernon.

Well, Houdini never made it back, but Vernon should at least try. But only if he makes it look natural!
