I looked in Latest and Greatest, the topic forum for new products coming. I did not find anything.
I went to Scott Alexander's website and Bob Kohler's website and there is no mention of such and effect with that name. John Shryock put out a DVD some years back with that name, and it has been extensively reviewed by myself and other in this topic. It is great and the details are well worth the price of the DVD. |

This looks very interesting... not least because myself and a friend of mine created a ring in Lemon Egg & Walnut for a show that my friend performed to 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe last year.
The routine that we devised and created for this effect was used as the closer for that show and it not only brought the show to a hugely effective finish every night, it also seemingly fooled every magician who came to see the show. (including those that do their own version of this routine in their own shows) It's a piece of work that my friend and I are extremely proud of. Scott Alexander and Bob Kohler have proven track records for producing excellent material... so it'll be very interesting to see what this is. If it's anything like the routines they've produced in the past it should be a real gem of a worker. I notice that this product is being sold with a licence and I find that an interesting concept.... especially when it involves a routine based on an effect that is as well embedded in the magic world as this one is. I'm pleased and reassured by the fact that we have a video record of our own routine from my friend's highly successful 2015 Edinburgh show. With a routine of this this type, with such a classic well established form and plot, there's always a possibility of overlap in content of some kind, be it; methods, structure, handling, props, presentation or something else. If any such overlap did exist it could raise issues of ownership and licence infringement for performing or even marketing a routine that has been created before this came to the market. But there are already plenty of different versions of this plot out there with unique features and aspects within them to make them different enough to distinguish them from any of the other routines being performed or marketed.... and as with our 2015 Edinburgh show version I fully expect that will be the case with this latest from Scott and Bob's. I look forward to hearing more about it.

Thanks takeachance, it is called "SINGULARITY" not Ring in Walnut, no wonder I could not find it. If this is like other Kohler products, I am sure it will be produced very well. My only concern is, will there be a version 2 after these are sold. Scott Alexander has bee very successful at taking the best tricks, effects, and handlings of historic methods and mix them into a workable solution for the one man show.

Let me put it this way: I love the few Scott Alexander effects I own but most effects he's selling are overprized.
Example: I'm really happy with Velocity 3 but the marker itself costs 20$ and you pay almost 1200€ when you live in Europe. Don't get me wrong: if the quality is good I have no problem to pay for it but the price should also be appropriated. Although I don't know this method for the ring in walnut version I can't imagine that it's worth 500$. I stick to John Shryock's method Maybe it's easier to buy his effects when you're a fulltime magician but as semi-pro with lots of unpaid charity gigs it's almost impossible 😄 Cheers Nikki

I am just NUTS over the Singularity! (ba da bum!)
The Singularity is the result of my quest to find a totally in the hands, no case version of the classic plot. (Most likely created in the time of Pinnetti.) There have been tons of versions out there and in the history section of the DVD I cover a lot of them. I am quite proud of the final product. Bob did an excellent job making the training clear and concise. Bob has gotten tons of raves from users , and some rather 'heavy hitters' are incorporating the Singularity gimmick into their existing presentations. Couldn't be happier. |

Hi Scott-
I love the concept of this effect from a magic standpoint, but have always had issues with it in regards to presentation. The use of a lemon, egg, and walnut always struck me as very random. Does the routine justify the use of these items? Thanks, Ben |

How do you justify magic effects? If you a magician, why do you have to justify anything. A magician is center stage and produces a dove, I find no way to justify a bird appearing in the magicians hands.
So a lemon, egg, and walnut are natural enclosed and sealed edible food found in nature. Why are they here, what justifies them to grow out the earth or even be on earth. Do they really belong here on earth. If you can justify that, then maybe you can justify magic. If you select the items carefully, the only justification is that one fits nicely into the other. Or You discoverd an agriculture specialist and found that he could grow a hybrid anomaly. |

In the context of my full show I use the objects and they vanish throughout the evening. When performing the Singularity by itself, the objects and their sizes are referenced and justified scientifically in context of the individual piece.

I’m very interested in this as I perform this in my two-man-show.
But i’d love adding it to my one-man-show. Now I wonder, is it possible to load a bill rather than a ring? |
