I posted this in the Clothes we wear section, but I thought I would also get opinions and experience here.
Have any of you used Lab Coats instead of traditional clown ware. If so, I have a few questions. 1. How did it go over with the young kids? 2. How did it go over with older kids? 3. How did it go over with adult groups? 4. Did you like the two side pockets and breast pocket? 5. Was access through side panels to your pants pockets use-able?

Hi Harris,
I use a 'lab coat' when working with children. 1. The coat adds status to the buffoon which adds an interesting dicotomy to you as a performer when stepping into a space 2. Same as above but, with the added benefit of the 'older kids' getting what you're doing. If the offer is made well, they feel apart of what you're doing and not treated like 'kiddies'. Sometimes I'll take it off just to add an element of 'I don't do this for the young ones' 3. An instant recognition as you're instantly associated with a well known image 4. Yes. Even have matching pockets off both top and bottom on the inside 5. Very useful especially when stealing or ditching objects. Simple slit is enough to get to it. Also, bits of physical comedy can be done with hand caught in there and coming out the other end. Have consisted having a puppet poke out of the slit aswell. If I can assist further, please PM me Harris and good luck!

Ps- good idea to make one of the pockets big enough to fit a uke in!

Not sure how it would go over with the younger kid, but for the old kids and adult, there is a very interesting big following of BIll Nye the science guy, so I think the lab coat can be a great idea, as a fresh approach for performance, and it will hook them, but it also depend what direction you are looking to take this character towards.

If the costume fits your character, use it!

I play many characters and have decided to add one to a portion of the show.
I may have some additional pockets added both visible and not so obvious. Side note Yesterday took a group lesson on intermediate ukulele technique by James Hill Much food and music for thought.
