Just placed my order. Having trouble downloading the PDF manual. However, I'm just looking forward to getting this. Is there an owners forum to share thoughts and ideas?

Been wanting to get this but putting off as other items persisted to abscond my FATHOMS money.....lol, just put my order in for this & took advantage of Vic's free shipping weekend special. Just downloaded manual & flipped thru it quickly. A very in depth manual & performance ideas to work with, I can see the time put into this project / effect & WOW, wished I had gotten this earlier as I am doing a little WS thingy for friends this weekend at Easter dinners Sat & Sun get together as a memorial personal performance as I have always had a fascination with the Titanic long before Titanic I effects have.
One thing I have noticed thru out the year(s) that when ever I have been around family or friends get together's or hang outs times with others, the Titanic will some how pop up here or there & the interest always becomes a main interest & topic for a bit. I have Emily's revenge & wallet with me at all times for this reason & tie it in with my family background from England. I will do ER 1st & have WS & Titanic cards with me (use one or the other as I feel ) & then use one of them, after the alive or dead reveal I finish with ER letter & the reactions have always been "off the hook" !! With Fathoms, although won't be carrying around like the other 2, in a planned sit down situation, Fathoms will be really shattering minds & with the rest of my "artifacts" items & ER, WS / Titanic !! Wished I had the extra for Marc's box but will probably get that down the road after Vic kills me with the newest AM items & Prof's Alice Dopps......LoL |

Just recieved my FATHOMS today, absolutely fantastic !!!! Already been shopping for needed items to print when I got my pdf & started printing & aging 😁
LOVE the book & tickets, soooo darn realistic & the tickets seem so original looking they really look as if they ARE real originals ! The book itself - wow Vic you & the Prof really knocked this out of the park as I can see the dedication to details on this, of course this is a standard that I'm extremely happy to see in all your effects. & love the marbled front page, that really looks gorgeous to boot !! My future Titanic presentations are going to amazing, cant wait to work with FATHOMS !! |

My FATH@MS will be arriving in the UK soon. The manual is so indepth and full of fantastic ideas.
I will be using an adapted sven pad, aged to look like a log book used on the Mackay to ensure my spectator selects the character I want. This also means I don't have to, if I don't want, to memorise all of the characters at once. I will be making up a number of log books with at least three characters entry numbers on every force page. Seems natural enough to use a log book of this sort to select a person. What do you think?

A few of you have been in touch about the above post, I hope you find it useful. It is also worth noting that the force characters in the book can be found using this website https://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/titanic-victims/ it even has the details in about their personal items and F@thoms book descriptions. I will be using this website to have a second spectator help to search for the spirit coming through. There is more detail on the website and may help to verify your story/facts.
I think this will help build the story. I searched for all of the force entries and most of them can be found, some names spelt differently or even wrong first name altogether but you can put this down to a misprint. I've done a lot of research on this and have recently been to the titanic exhibition in Liverpool for some inspiration. I work in the museum industry and am going to get my hands on some voice recordings of first hand accounts from some of the survivors. I'll play these recordings before the show begins to help build an atmosphere. I haven't even got the book yet and I have my whole show planned. Really excited to get this.

Using Fathoms as follow-up to my special adaptation of "WhiteStar" wherein I do not mention TitNic until the last moment of reveal. First step is giving one spec a "special token" (an antique pocket watch)..."to be explained shortly" and other spec an 1887 worn Morgan dollar. After the sorting procedure ( with appropriate patter about "intuition", "experiencing energy from holding these special objects"...then the reveal is prefaced with the explanation that the objects were "allegedly recovered from (pointing to the pocket watch) a bursar on the ill-fated Titanic ocean liner (the first mention of it here), used by him to time the loading of the lifeboats (survivors) and the coin (pointing to it) was allegedly one belonging to a brother who flipped with his younger brother to see which of them would be the last one to load on a lifeboat that had only room for ONE more occupant"! I then turn over the sorted photos, survivors first and show how each spec fared in their "intuitive" sorting. At the time I begin to explain the tokens and first say the name, "Titanic", I also bring out a copy of a vintage 1912 Boston Globe newspaper I have and place it where the "discard pile" had been, pushing aside the discard pile and casually mixing them in the process. At this structure of the reveal I have always gotten a great response,..often very emotional....and then can lead into discussion, thoughts, comments regarding what (WTF) has just happened and at times a perusal, of the newspaper along with the conversation. Then the perfect "stage" is set to follow up with Fathoms!

I received my Fa@thoms this week, it arrived quicker than expected and was presented in such a beautiful fashion. The book is exquisitely made from the marble pages, the font, layout and cover pages with so much detail that it is a real book. There will be no eye brows raised that this is a trick book, it is a book, nothing more. But there is so much more to it...
I stumbled across this website where the books information came from https://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/ti......er-list/ I will be using this website in my routine, having a second spectator verify and check the information that is coming through from the spirit world. This adds another layer of credibility to the story. It also helps as there is information on the website that isn't in the book. It helps build a great story combining the both the book and website. I will be using a specially adapted sven pad in order to force the characters on my spectator. I have chosen six characters to force all of whom are listed on the website, some of their info in the book is wrong, such as a first name is incorrect or spelt differently. This adds to the story that this book was a misprint and the info on the site can clarify any errors in the book. Some of the characters int eh book do not appear on the website so I chose six that do. The book will be aged and presented as though it was from the CS Mackay-Bennett, used by a crew member to document the bodies brought on board. Using the sven pad I can force one of six people or all six if I want to. One pumping question and I know who they have picked. Many of you have already been in touch about this method and I have shared the set up with you. I hope this is helpful. I too, like Doc Ben, will be using "WhiteStar" as my opener and with Docs handling which he shared with me earlier. I think it is great that owners of this book share their thoughts and ideas. The tickets that come with the book are also a thing of beauty. As real as one would hope for. I also will be going down the lines that they are reproduction. I won't be using them as a force but will place them along side a collection of artifacts from the time. I have also bought a teachers pack of titanic memorabilia to use in the routine. You can find them very cheap on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Titanic-Memora......--1WrOhF this is the link. I will also be using my hobbs box and adapting it to suit my story. I have a potential gig at the maritime museum in Liverpool where they have a whole titanic exhibition. I would love to place my hobbs box with bell inside a locked cabinet with a card describing the item, it will not look out of place. Then the bell can ring from inside the cabinet! This will make for a great moment I think. Anyway, the F@thoms set is just incredible and I will be using it in a forthcoming seance evening in a couple of months time. Thanks to Vic and all those involved for producing such an amazing piece of work. You help make our jobs a whole lot more special and real. Paul.

Performed after dinner and drinks last Friday my Whitestar version and used Paul's idea with a Svenpad for a intro to the Fathoms"choice"/force. Had one of those great "happy surprises"/incidents as I had decided to only use two "victims", a #6 force person (figuring chances are I could get a "two-fer" out of the "the young lovers" and only 1/3 of the pad set for #7, the elderly lady "Rebecca". Guess what, my female spec chose the elderly lady force person...but after my one brief "fishing" statement about"not seeming to be a youth"...she stated, "This is really spooky"...and (since I knew the spec's nickname was "Becky") I immediately went into a reveal of the name, the elderly, "Rebecca"...!! Woo-hoo,..great reactions,...before I even went into the rest of the reveal.
Overall Fathoms is a beautiful and fantastically crafted, sooo credible "prop"...and lends opportunity for lots of adaptation, addiional props (which I included) and fits wonderfully as a follow-up to Whitestar!

What card stock are people printing their tickets on, can these be outsourced to a print company? also, how do you perforate them?
And finally, are there any UK based sellers supplying switch boxes? Thanks Paul

You can perforate paper with a serrated tracing wheel.

I printed my tickets & used a pouncing wheel I have for making patterns for airbrush & pinstriping. Its an older one with round needles on a wheel, I use a ruler where I want the perforations. Works perfectly !!
You can find pounce wheels at any art supply shop, I think the newer wheels have square type needles on a wheel, I looked on line & that's what it looked like the were..... https://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&c......e+wheels Hope that helps anyone with same question. |
