Hi folks
I've got a quick question regarding this, I've used s***** tape to construct the gimmick for this effect but have noticed it reflecting off the lights. Has anyone got an alternate material to bind them? Thanks

Look for the GIFT WRAP version of this product. It has no shine.

The tape should go inside the cards. That is how the original card and bill repeats were fashioned. Begin on the long side and for the short side crease the tape first before installing. Put the three cards in first before the tape on the long side as a gauge so the pocket is not too tight. After the long side install the pre-creased tape to the short side but only attach to the back of the lowermost card. Add the three card gauge and then stick the upper card.

Only thing I could think of would be to split all the cards that go in the gimmick and remove their center core, and rubber cement them back, but I doubt it'd be worth it.

The thickness of the stock should not be of great concern. This is a parlor or stage effect and with the cards straight on to the audience the thickness can't be seen. With the manipulative version of the effect using a buckle there are far more than 5 cards that are held as one at various points in the routine. You bring up a good point though. Performer's may have been nervous about the thickness and at least one reason why they preferred the Six Bill Repeat. Splitting the cards is a good suggestion it you are nervous about the thickness but personally possibly more trouble than it is worth. "Don't run if no one is chasing you".

You could try double decker cards

Would a combo of DD or Manip cards with SF spray provide an elegant solution? Never used SF, so it's a genuine question.

I realize this is an older post, however, regarding the construction of the gimmick for six card. If I'm using jumbo (big box) Bicycle cards, how do I keep them from being bulky once the gimmick card is tossed onto the table?
Thank you!! AC |

Use "Attractive Cards" as described in The Wizards' Journal #32. The "gimmicked" cards disappear into the pile because there is no thick pocket involved and at the end you just have lots of thin single cards. The trick described is a "Six Rabbit Repeat" but this can be made with any jumbo playing cards, or design and print your own picture cards from instructions given.
