The vanishing red cup was a plastic cup with a rubber cup inside. You showed the red cup (really both cups nested) then placed it behind your back. The plastic cup had a small hook so it stayed hanging on your back as you brought back the red cup (now just the rubber cup). You then vanish the red rubber cup in the bag and for a laugh you turn around and they see the red cup hanging there.
Now I do a similar routine with a Nielson Ketchup bottle but the bottles don't nest like the cups do so it's not quite as clean a routine. Does anyone remember who made that trick and is it still around? |

I think it was a Bob McAllister effect. Probably no longer available.

Yes! It was a Bob McAllister PROP. (NOT "EFFECT".....EFFECT IS "WHAT THE SPECTATOR PERCEIVES". Bob didn't MAKE the "TRICK" either. A TRICK only exists while it's being PERFORMED!
Bob was a very dear friend, who died suddenly, and, way too soon. The last time that we worked together, was at the Magic Castle in '79,

Speaking of Bob McAllister...
A few years ago I was contacted by someone who said he had acquired the rights from Bob's family to re-market some of Bob's tricks like "The Vanishing Cup" and "Watch the Spot." I can't remember who that was, though. Does anyone know anything about that? So far, I haven't seen any notices about Bob's tricks being remarketed, so maybe it was a pipe dream. Bob's tricks were manufactured by Earl Edwards and wholesaled to other shops. Bob self-published one book--_That Extra Touch_--a small monograph of great tricks and routines. https://www.ebay.com/itm/THAT-EXTRA-TOUC......mfhX7Vql He also released an instructional VHS tape called "Blockbuster Magic" aimed at the general public. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Blockbuster-Mag......xEpYxLbE There is a book about Bob titled _WONDERAMA: THE BOB MCALLISTER YEARS_ http://wonderamashow.blogspot.com/ But I think a more definitive biography could be written with the help of people like Dick Oslund, Chuck Windley, Bob's family and myself. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Sonny....
I'm sure that Chuck, "Ye" and "Me", could contribute our memories. I doubt whether the family would get involved. At Bob's funeral, there was no mention of Bob's life in magic. Chuck is in Norfolk. You might confer with him. Contact me, if you wish.
